I just read this article that more than 30 million people are playing tennis which is the highest it has been in more than 25 years.  In this survey, a tennis player was defined as playing at least once this season. I think it's great to see that the sport that I love is being played by more and more people.  Tennis will never overtake basketball or soccer in terms of participation but I'm glad to hear that more people are enjoying the sport.  Here is a quote from the head of the USTA on these new findings:

"One out of every 10 Americans is a tennis player," Kurt Kamperman, Chief Executive, Community Tennis, USTA, told the media in a press conference luncheon in Manhattan today. "Tennis is the best mind-body lifetime sport you can play...Over the past several years, we've strived to make the game more accessible, particularly at parks and schools across the country. Combine this with the health benefits of tennis, and you get surging interest in the sport."
